The Kimball Memory Project, was initiated by Marion Woodfork Simmons, a community historian and Kimball alumna. The mission of the project is to preserve the history of Kimball Elementary in southeast Washington, DC through the stories of people affiliated with the school.

The goals of the project are to:

  • document the history
  • preserve memorabilia
  • capture the memories

The end result of the project will be a product that documents the history of Kimball Elementary and preserves the personal stories of those affiliated with the school.  All artifacts collected will be donated to a historical archive.

Individuals who attended or worked at Kimball are encouraged to participate in the project by sharing their experiences and memorabilia. Other individuals with knowledge about the school may also participate. Participants are encouraged to share photographs and memorabilia that help tell the story of the school.
